ASLI Education
Geospatial Technology, Policy and Law
The policy and legal aspects of geospatial science and technology is not fully understood by geospatial experts. On the other hand, legal experts need a good understanding of the science and applications of geospatial technology. This course aims to fill the gaps for the two communities.
McGill-ASLI Course on International Space Law and Governance
This course is jointly organised by ASLI and the McGill Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University, Canada. The course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks and governance structures governing global space activities. The course explores the intersection of international space law, national legislation and space cooperation.
Global Space Policy
This course is aimed at equipping professionals, regulators and policymakers with information, knowledge and skills, needed for making the best space decisions, policies, strategies and programmes, while taking cognisance of the evolving geopolitical environment.
Workshops/Trainings
Advance Africa Program – Space Law Training
This training is aimed at equipping African university moot court teams, with basic knowledge in space law as well as prepare them for space law moot court competitions.

Highlights
World Space Week (WSW) 2024: High-Level Panel on Space and Climate Change
ASLI in collaboration with the Nigerian Embassy in Addis Ababa, and the Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (SSGI) organised a high-level panel discussion to commemorate the designated World Space Week (WSW) 2024. The theme of the event was “Space and Climate Change.”
Briefing of the Diplomatic and Scientific Communities in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
ASLI in collaboration with the Nigerian Embassy in Addis Ababa, and the Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (SSGI) organised a Space Briefing, with a focus on the four thematic priority areas of the African Outer Space Programme (Earth Observation, Satellite Communication, Navigation & Positioning, and Astronomy) as well as two cross-cutting areas (Education & Capacity Development, and African Space Economy).
Briefing of U.S. Space Delegation
ASLI had an interactive discussion with a U.S. delegation consisting of representatives from NASA and U.S. Departments of State, Commerce and Defence. The discussion focused on civil and commercial space cooperation between Africa and the U.S.
